Fine art auction

Oakland, California

I joined Mom to an auction house where she arranged to sell some Ansel Adams works (see
her blog post about this). The Director of Fine Arts spoke of his delight at getting to be
around such great works, sweeping his arm to include this painting by Vaughn Flannery. He
said many folks around the world were excited about this painting, that it was worth
$30-$50,000. Art: I don't get what makes one piece valuable and another not. But, heck, I
can phoon next to an item worth $30-50,000 as a memento of this event with Mom and of
being in "a place with treasures".

Phooner: me. Photo idea: mine.
