Blood stones
Yimas Lakes, Sepik Region, Papua New Guinea
"Back in the days of headhunting, a victim's throat was cut and the blood poured on the
black blood stones 'to appease the spirits' and make them friendly to headhunters. Things
changed here with the introduction of Christianity. These stones now make a nice perch to
phoon." --Alan
