Place of Salt

Hallstatt, Austria

"Hallstatt means 'Place of Salt' (from the Celtic word Hall for salt). The entire region
is called the Salzkammergut, with Salz being German for salt. As the names suggests, the
area was important for the mining of salt and the history of Hallstatt spans 4500 years.
Today the town is most known for its beautiful location." --Anders
