Post Office Bay

Floreana Island, Galapagos, Ecuador

"Whalers in the 18th century would leave letters in a barrel at this bay in hopes that
they'd get picked up and delivered by other ships heading to those destinations. Today,
the tradition continues, as tourists leave postcards of their own and pick up postcards to
hand deliver to addresses near where they live.

"I put a post card for my parents into the current barrel. Within a month, it was in my
parent's hands. Unfortunately, it was not hand delivered to my parent's house--it was
mailed from San Diego, a mere 140 miles away! I would have made the drive!" --Brandon
