Wind turbines

Altamont Pass, California

I had missed the correct exit from the freeway and a passenger directed me to a backroad
that would get us to our destination. As we wound our way through the hills, BAM! This
dense farm of wind turbines came into view. (This is worth viewing in Google Earth.) And,
to my delight, there was the California Aqueduct, too. I had learned about it as a child.
It is part of a huge, highly politicized system that delivers water to California's vast
agricultural valleys (that yield 1/5 of this nation's produce) and to residents of the
densely populated southern half of the state.

Here is another wind farm I spotted from the freeway, just after missing that first exit.

Phooner: me. Photo idea: mine.
