Media frenzy
Redwood City, California
When word got out that a highly publicized trial was going to be moved to this city, news
corporations fought for the best parking places. The city spent $270,000 just to set up
for journalists several months ago. The city made 16 concrete spaces available near the
courthouse, each 10 foot by 15 foot, for $51,000 each (rent it all for just $816,000!).
The left picture is of a nearby business who would rent a single parking space for a
satellite truck plus a deluxe office suite for about $3,000 a month. Look, they even
rented the roof! Crazy. The right picture is where the lawyers would appear after the
day's activities.
